As the year comes to winds down, you might be like me…feeling everything winding up. There are so many things that need to get down before the end of the year, plans to make for the Holidays, and last minute present shopping. It’s during this hectic, no matter how joyous the year is, that I can not stress enough taking the time to create a weekly self care ritual. Make something simple from the start. Here are some of the ways that I’ve made sure to slow down to restore my spirit and offer up the restorative benefits of beauty.
#1: Simple Makeup Routine

Select the day that you need space to feel like you’re unwinding and set it off right, from the moment that you wake. Skip the blowout and braid hair instead. Reduce your makeup routine down to less than five products. I was introduced to TON Cosmetics when I was in NYC last August. It’s a company created by two woman from Montreal that wanted to help women find the right tone of lipstick for their skin tone. They had this interesting way of discovering your tone, be that a warm or cool tone skin tone, by glancing at the color of the skin from behind the ear. They have a test at their website that you can take to find your own tone, but the lipsticks are smooth and hydrating. I also love how the natural the color looks on my lips. I’ve been using Med Cool 1.

In addition, I like to use natural beauty products as much as I can. I adore the ILIA mascara and Nude by Nature Concealer and Shimmering White Sand Eyeshadow. I could go on more about Nude by Nature by suffice it to say that I think that I’ve literally purchased over half of their product line.
#2. Scent Matters.

Feeling pampered and relaxed is always connected to scents, be it an diffuser in a room, burning Palo Santo, or layering on a perfume. Don’t forge that scent can really impact your ability to relax and feel calm. Don’t just think lavender, but think wood scents, moss, or even a blend put together by Dolce and Gabbana, which if you click that link-just reading the description will trigger a moment of imaginative relaxation.
#3. Evening Skincare

Woodlot is another brand that I was introduced to in NYC. I met the woman that launched this beauty brand and there is so much goodness happening from their candles to their skincare line. I encourage that you take time this week to slow down, do less, so that you stay sane in what can sometimes be a very hectic world.
